What is Spinal Decompression?
The SpineMED® decompression table allows us to produce a negative
pressure or vacuum inside a specific disc of the spinal column.
Over a
series of  treatment sessions the reduced pressure inside the disc causes
the bulge or herniation to be retracted. As the disc height increases and
the bulge shrinks, pressure and irritation of the nerve root or spinal cord
is relieved. Further treatments are required after symptom relief to
heal the outer annulus and stabilize the disc for proper function.
Decompression is applied in cycles of one minute on and thirty seconds
off. Each session requires twenty of these cycles or thirty minutes of
treatment time. In the case of low back treatment, infrared heat is
applied to the lumbar muscles to relax them and reduce the chance of
muscle spasms while undergoing treatment.  The rhythmic cycles of
Decompression done over time facilitate the transfer of fluids, oxygen
and nutrients into the disc, increasing disc height and healing the outer
capsule for long term function and stability.
